a Paris

we wandered down to place de la bastille - it's not far, checked out the market, the commuters, the shops - there are many bike shops - and then down to the river, glimpsed notre dame and le tour eiffel...

the plan for tomorrow is to visit notre dame and the oldest tree in Paris... it's a thing... and maybe some other stuff

tonight we decided to do the sitting in front of the cafe drinking and watching the people. it was good fun, apart from the bill. we knew it wouldn't be cheap, but since when did a glass of wine and a beer cost 23 euros?! Cripes. In any case we had a very good time watching the people and enjoying our drinks. It won't be happening again - our local has wine for two euros a glass...

Dinner was at the local - my chicken spoke of a bird that had a great life - it was large, strong and chicken-y. ridiculous description, I know, but it was. Geoff had steak and was vastly entertaining as he decided to embrace what can only be termed Frenglish - it didn't quite make it to Franglais - especially spurred by our waitress' excellent english... still, it's never too late and it's probably time the french embraced the cafe midi (I don't know, ask Geoff) - the french aren't sure either...

lovely evening - can't wait for tomorrow...

  1. Yeah, from what I can gather much of the chook in France is free range other than the last month of life which is spent resting up in a cage, eating and chilling out. Also it'll've been a rooster, so extra tasty.
