Thursday in Greenwich

just arrived at the plume of feathers for a bite of lunch. G's having a half of harvey's sussex best, for me - a fuller's london pride. We're also going to share welsh rarebit and chips... (They were great)

after a leisurely start to the day with pastries and a flat white down the road at the argentinian cafe we found last time, we discovered that the cutty sark restoration is complete, so we're off there next, having already been to the observatory where we straddled the meridian and saw lots of clocks, watches and telescopes.

we had a squiz at that painted gallery and chapel at the naval college and a blast at the greenwich visitor centre which includes dress-ups.

alas, although it's still very early in our trip we've already noticed a spot of tourist leg and museum foot.

i'd also forgotten the joy of watching geoff deal with his daypack. It's an orderly procedure involving lots of zipping and sighing, interspersed with brief moments of panic and bewilderment... "my wallet!"... "my phone!"... and it's never quick.

The Plume and Feathers dates back to the 17th century and it's suitably dark and cosy. They've just put a whole basket of sachets on the table: tomato sauce, mayonnaise and HP sauce... Oh, and a small flask of vinegar. So pleased we ordered chips now.

  2. The observatory's good ay. Awesome weather here, but still a bit envious of you two. Sighing at the thought of the covered market. If you get to Bath there's an awesome fudge shop right in town. You can watch the fudge being made on a slab of marble. Hope you have good weather for Sissinghurst. I still am not over my brick wall fetish after going there... Sold some lambs and got not bad $ considering they weren't all that big really. Ooo and new shoes on sale for 70. Red.
